The Kherson Region (Ukraine) has a scientific library including a special Canadian section which was created a few years ago by the Canadian Embassy with the help of some Canadian organizations. This section is quite popular among visitors of the library but it has been neglected for some time and requires an upgrade.
The Director of the library has approached the CUCC with a request to help the library by donating books which would be interesting to the Ukrainian readers. The kind of books generally includes books on Canadian history, culture, art, museums, science, fiction by the Canadian authors and photo albums with the Canadian landscapes (anything with a Canadian theme) as well as books about Canada in English or French, books in Ukrainian published in Canada by the Canadian authors or about Canada.
OUR APPEAL TO YOU IS THAT, IF YOU HAVE ANY BOOKS THAT FALL INTO THESE CATEGORIES AND ARE IN REASONABLE CONDITION, WE WOULD APPRECIATE A DONATION OF ANY NUMBER OF BOOKS YOU CAN SPARE TO PASS ON THE THE CITIZENS OF KHERSON.
Books may be delivered to the CUCC offices at 145 Evans Avenue (Suite 211) on Monday to Thursday between the hours of 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The CUCC will make arrangements to ship all the books to Ukraine. If you require to make a special arrangement to deliver your contribution, please contact the CUCC office by phone at 416-253-6700 or by email at info@cucc.ca. to see how your special needs can be met.
