Ukraine Healthcare Summit 2012

Healthcare in Ukraine needs urgent reforming, President Viktor Yanukovych said at today's meeting of the Council of Regions in the Dnipropretrovsk region: "Reforms in healthcare are long overdue. They should be implemented as soon as possible. Medical institutions should improve the quality of services they provide to citizens and medicine should be more available to the people." (source: Presidential Press Office - 8th December 2011).

The reform of the healthcare sector will be completed by 2014. Indeed, Ukraine is 50.000 doctors short and the health services suffer from a lack of funding, not to mention the deterioration of its medical equipment and hospital infrastructure. Carrying out the basis for the introduction of a medical insurance system is also pretty much at centre focus.
